The past couple of weeks have taken us from the bustle of Delhi to the serene calm of the Taj Mahal and on to the rural simplicity of our village project. From our first momnets in Delhi we were.......
We were in Pushkar a city filled with holy sites and wonderful market stalls. A walk to the temple on a hill provided great views of the surroundings countryside. The streets were lined with merchants and pilgrims who were on their way to the only temple of Brahma in the world. We were soon back on the road again this time destined for Mandore-the base of our village project. The welcome we received at the schools where we work was remarkable the whole village turned out.
Since we've been in Mandore our days have had more of a routine. We cycle to the village each morning-a bumpy 12km journey each way. There we each work on a separate job- some plaster, other paint, while still others wire the buildings or make tables for the children. Slowly but Surely the jobs get completed. Then we cycle back, free to explore Jodhpur or relax in the gardens. So far it's been an incredible trip and of course we are all looking forward to what lies ahed!
